How it All Started
Our story started with a hospital, a bathtub and a commitment to treat water better. For 30 years, a building operational engineer worked with cooling water in power plants, commercial buildings and hospitals. As an engineer, he endured working with toxic chemicals, leaving burns on his hands and holes in his clothes.
In 2005, the engineer was working at a hospital in Denver, Colorado. When working on the hospital’s HVAC cooling tower water, he saw the life-or-death impact traditional toxic chemicals have – and began searching for a healthier alternative. After work, he used a bathtub to test different water treatment technologies. Soon he made a bathtub-tested Hydroxyl-Based AOP prototype that would forever change how we treat water.
The Growth of Clear Comfort
In 2011, Silver Bullet Water Treatment (now known as Clear Comfort), was founded for cooling towers, agriculture, livestock drinking water, wastewater, aquaculture and other industrial water treatment. The company’s AOP systems helped customers provide healthier work environments, livestock drinking water or agricultural water. Additionally, the patented AOP technology offered sustainability by reducing water usage, electricity, labor and toxic chemical use.
In 2014, Clear Comfort was founded as a sister company to Silver Bullet Water Treatment. Clear Comfort used the same patented AOP water treatment technology on recreational water like residential and commercial pools and spas, aquatics facilities, waterparks, splash pads, professional sports teams’ training centers and more.
Clear Comfort’s AOP pool and spa systems deliver the comfort and convenience of water with the lowest need for chlorine and other toxic chemicals – without compromising quality or protection. Additionally, Clear Comfort AOP water treatment was a favored alternative in the pool and spa industry for having easy, low-touch maintenance, only needing 5 to 15 minutes of system maintenance each year.
In 2023, the two leading AOP water treatment companies combined forces. However, unlike chlorine, hydroxyl radicals are the most fast-acting and short lived oxidative compounds available for water treatment. This means that they only last for fractions of a second, never touching swimmers, livestock or plants.
