The Problem:
Chlorine doesn’t protect against some common recreational water illnesses, including the parasite Cryptosporidium parvum. In addition, chlorine sanitation can produce chloramines, the disinfection byproduct of chlorine reacting to organic material like sweat, skin oils or urea. Chloramines can cause eye irritation, allergies, asthma and other respiratory issues.
The Solution:
In search of a chlorine-alternative that would protect the health and safety of swimmers and staff, the pools of a dive school, hotel, university, YMCAs and more, opted for Clear Comfort’s commercial pool disinfection system. Clear Comfort’s hydroxyl-based advanced oxidation process is third-party tested to:
- Destroy 99.99 percent of Cryptosporidium
- Minimize harmful disinfection byproducts
- Significantly reduce chlorine use, while adhering to code
The Result:
The chlorine levels of eight commercial pools were monitored before and after the Clear Comfort systems were installed. The systems were able to reduce 23 to 70 percent of chlorine use in these pools. In addition to chlorine reduction, the facilities reduced toxic chemical handling, storage and distribution in our ecosystem, making the transition to Clear Comfort a healthy, cost effective and sustainable win.
With resources like Clear Comfort, there’s little excuse for swimmers and staff to have red eyes let alone lung issues result from your facility’s pool this summer.
