How my eyes opened after a lifetime of swimming

Austin Ringquist SwimmingI have been in and around swimming pools most of my life. I’ve swam competitively as an age group swimmer, worked at a pool in high school, swam for two Division I universities and coached swimming. Currently, I am working full time at an Olympic training facility at the University of Arizona.

I’m around swimming pools a lot, and now I have the pleasure of swimming in and working at a Clear Comfort pool. A Clear Comfort pool is not the common pool everyone thinks of when referencing aquatics. Having trained at many different facilities in my life without the Clear Comfort system, and now training at one that currently has it installed, there is a noticeable difference in the water.

After traveling the United States and different parts of the world for competitive swimming and reflecting on my experience, I always remember negative side effects from poor pool water chemistry. Some of the most common memories I have include taking many showers to wash of the excess chlorine, applying face and body lotion constantly, and the inevitable itchy skin despite the lotion.

The Clear Comfort system has helped to reduce all of these effects and more. Clear Comfort also helped to alleviate the smell that many people involved in aquatics can relate to — the very strong, unique stench of chlorine common to almost every swimming pool and spa.

It’s a smell that swimmers know well, because they’re always around it. They smell it walking into a facility, while training in the water, in the locker room after practice, and even on them at school and home. Chlorine and a swimmer are very well connected; however, this doesn’t have to be the case.

One of my strongest memories pulling the cover off the pool in early morning practice before beginning training. As I would lift the cover off the surface of the water, the smell of chlorine hit me in the face like you wouldn’t believe — every morning practice, every cover, every time.

This isn’t the case with a Clear Comfort pool. Clear Comfort reduces chlorine use and also reduces the chloramines in the air that cause the many negative side effects mentioned earlier including: the smell, the  itchy, dry skin, and persistent cough.

With a solution to minimize these common side effects associated with the sport of swimming, swimming pools, spas, aquatic sports, and aquatic facilities in general, why wouldn’t a facility make the change to a Clear Comfort system?

I have a lot of years ahead of me in the aquatics field, and my future in aquatics doesn’t involve breathing in large amounts of chloramines, endless showers and dry skin due to the Clear Comfort system.

Since being introduced to this technology, I now know that my future in aquatics will be safer and cleaner. Clear Comfort has proven itself at my pool, and there are also many third-party studies to prove its success. So why not make the change for a safer future for your patrons and staff?
