iStock_000052183766_SmallIt’s no secret that chlorine is not good for your health and that after swimming in a chlorinated pool, you will reek of chlorine for hours afterwards.  Anyone who swims regularly has two choices: fight the chlorine smell and harsh effects or just let those around you deal with the chlorine smell.  For those who choose to do something to counteract the harmful and smelly effects of chlorine, here are some products that are helpful:

Body Wash: Choose a body wash with vitamin C, which helps to neutralize and eliminate the chlorine and chlorine smell from your body. There are products available that you can spray onto your skin and hair before showering and then you can use your usual body soap and shampoo.  You can also make your own homemade solution using lemon or orange juice mixed in water.

Chlorine Removal Shampoos: Because no one wants dry, brittle or green hair from swimming in a chlorinated pool, there are many chlorine removal shampoos on the market.  The one I used when I was swimming was UltraSwim (because it was easy to find in the store), though there are countless other brands on the market today.

Swimwear Cleansers: Swimwear cleansers can be used to wash swimsuits that really reek of chlorine.  Or, soaking your swimsuit in a homemade solution of water and vinegar overnight also works. This will also help your swimsuit last longer.

The Best Solution: After 18+ years of swimming nearly every single day, I am tired of fighting the chlorine. Instead of trying to lessen the effects of chlorine, my mission is to fix the root of the problem; this is why I am such a big supporter of Clear Comfort.

With Clear Comfort, home pools can be 95 percent or even completely chlorine free, while public pools can reduce chlorine by 80 percent. Swimming in a pool with little to no chlorine changes the entire experience for the better. Swimming in Clear Comfort is not only better for my body, but also for my swimming equipment (suits, goggles, etc.) and my wallet!
