The New Jersey Institute for Disabilities (NJID) has helped enhance Lakeview School’s program to help students with disabilities — with the state’s first school-based low-chlorine hydrotherapy pool.
A New Jersey publication, MyCentralJersey, recently featured the Lakeview School’s new, HydroWorx therapeutic pool that uses Clear Comfort to provide rehabilitation and therapy with low-chlorine water.
“The benefits of hydrotherapy are extensive for our student population,” Penny Goldstein, Principal of Lakeview School, said to MyCentralJersey. “The warmth and buoyancy of the water allow for increased mobility and range of motion which allow therapists to work on balance, coordination and strength that can then be transferred to the land.”
Lakeview School’s Aquatic Center features a HydroWorx Series 2000 therapeutic pool provides an underwater treadmill and eliminates the need for steps, ladders and lifts. Alternatively, the pool floor adjusts in height — so students and staff can easily sit, stand and be lowered into the pool.
In addition, the pool uses a Clear Comfort CCW100 pool sanitation system that, “produces pristine water and reduces the need for harsh chemicals found in conventional pool cleaning systems,” according to MyCentralJersey.
